Summary of Experience

  • 7-10+ years furniture industry experience required

  • Additional retail, hospitality, and/or restaurant design experience preferred

  • Experience in various organizational settings also preferred, including management of a team of direct reports, 5+ years

  • Ability to balance design, with operational needs and budget objectives resulting in exceptional store environments

  • Skilled in the visual, written and verbal communication of design issues

  • Knowledge of architectural details and specifications

  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong organizational skills; attention to detail

  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills

  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

  • Ability to communicate well with multidisciplinary cross-functional internal as well as external teams

  • Ability to manage a high volume of work within compressed timeframes

  • Advanced presentation skills necessary

  • Negotiation skills necessary

  • Ability to balance business needs and project constraints with high standards in design quality

  • Spanish or other second language skills are a plus

  • Ability to quickly identify ongoing process improvement opportunities and identify and develop solutions.

  • Ability to set priorities, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and changing environment.

  • Ability to lead, coach and influence cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to apply sound business principles and practices to design and project management.

  • Strategic thinking skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.

  • Strong ability to manage supplier and provider performance and is highly capable of driving continuous improvements.

  • Strong ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

  • Demonstrated ability using Sketch-up and other position-specific design software

  • Knowledge of current sustainability trends and practices preferred

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required

  • Masters degree in design-related field a plus
